Most road awareness campaigns are aimed at adults, but the truth is that by the time they are old enough to drive, they have already imbibed certain habits by noticing those around them. Additionally, while there is much ado about the driver’s safety, the passengers’ safety come a close second. With most laws directed at the driver, it is very common for people to take the safety of the others in the car for granted. Hop in and Buckle up was an awareness campaign to make children aware of what is good driving behavior as well as the importance of their safety on the road. These kids then influence their peers, parents and family members on the road safety. The campaign was supported by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Challenges/Brief: Connect and engage with it target audiences, launch its latest products in the UAE, execute event media relation by inviting the right target media.

Solution/Approach: The Hop in and Buckle up campaign was organized at three different schools in Dubai- Kings’ School Al Barsha, Regent International School and Dubai’s British School. It was a three-day event that educated the children on road safety measures. The event was as interactive as it was educational. Through songs, dance moves and other fun activities, the children were given important lessons in road safety. The song and dance moves were created in such a way that kids recall it as soon as they hop inside the vehicle.

Results: The campaign was an instant Hit with all 3 schools, both the students and the management. The children enjoyed every bit of the activation and were completely involved. The campaign provided the much-needed awareness of seat belts and road safety to the kids in a very unconventional and fun way as well as managed to communicate and send a message to the parents as well.
